Neutral Mask

With guidance from our friend Cheryl Stapleton of Learning Through Theatre, who helped us realise our increasingly popular Commedia Dell’ Arte set, we present our take on the Neutral Mask. Going all the way back to Japanese Noh masks, which were greatly influential on the creation of the famous Neutral Mask by Copeau and (subsequently Lecoq) as learning tools for theatre nearly 100 years ago, we are proud to present our latest iteration of the adaptable neutral design.
Half Masks leave the back of a human head exposed and can be made in less time, using less materials than the Full Masks. All you need is a bit of ribbon or elastic for a headband and you’ll be ready to go for a quick and easy build. The Half Mask is a great option for first-time builders, kids or for when you need a Mask-on-the-go. We hope you enjoy the build as much as the finished Mask.

Simply print the templates on paper, stick them to card, cut them out, match the numbers and join the tabs together. The Mask is scaled to fit an adult but you can make children's masks by scaling down the templates when you print - check our FAQ page for details. The templates come with instructions for an internal head band that can be adjusted by moving the fixing points to get a snug fit. Some templates are supplied with component colour guides to help you create identifiable markings unique to the Mask.
